It was 1973 when I was stuck in a really boring job as trainee Chartered Accountant that I was lent 2 books. The Family of Man and Ansel Adams in Yellowstone Park. I was totally entranced and could not stop looking at them, the vivacity of the portraits, which imparted so much hope of a better world to come. The stunning beauty of the B&W prints by Adams of mountains and trees and sky. It was a matter of weeks later the I left the accountancy job to start work as a self-employed carpenter as I didn’t have the Art training or nous to be the full time photographer that I am now.
