Why do I take photographs ?
What is so unique about a photograph ?
I take photographs to record moments in daily life. The Art comes when choosing the subject, lighting the subject, and knowing when to snap.
Great painters of the past like Hogarth would have done a few hundred paintings , or at most a thousand paintings in their lifetime. With digital photography it is possible to shoot 500 or more pictures in a few hours at little or no cost. Quantity is obviously not quality.
What I look for in a photograph is the context and the content. I love looking at movie stills. These are just millisecond moments from a 90 minute filmed narrative. To me they speak of action , drama/comedy beyond and before that moment.
